EarthLink to offer Wi-Fi in Atlanta
For those of you who call Hot-lanta your home, you’ll soon be getting municipal wireless networking provided by EarthLink. At least they’re in the process of negotiating with the city to provide that service to you folks. Earthlink already has deals with seven other cities including Philadelphia, New Orleans, Anaheim, Pasadena, Alexandra, VA, Milipitas, CA, and is close to finalizing things with San Francisco.
And before you start to sweat and think that you’ll have to sign-up with Earthlink, the network will be open access allowing other providers to offer their services as well.
Pricing for 1Mbps connection speeds is slated to be provided for $18/month with discounted rates available to low-income households.
