Support for XP to stick around until 2010

I’ve gotten lots of questions from people as to how long Microsoft will be supporting Windows XP with the imminent release of Windows Vista.  Support for Windows 95/98/Me was cut this past summer as evidenced by 2007 versions of most software requiring Windows 2000 as a minimum requirement.

So how long will Microsoft support Windows XP Home?  Look for support to last until at least 2010.  Darren Huston, president of Microsoft’s Japan unit said that an official announcement will come Thursday but confirmed that support will be extended for an additional year.

Microsoft had planned to continue support until 2009.  We’ll see what happens come Thursday.
